Create positive affirmations to start living your best life

I know, I know. This blog is about living my best life in an Australian cottage. Why post about affirmations? It's simple. Around 20 years ago, I started to have a recurring dream about living on a property with an orchard, vineyard, and olive grove. It would have beautiful views and I would be able to see along the horizon without seeing people, with privacy that I wasn't experiencing in our 2 bedroom townhouse at the time.

I started meditating and saying affirmations until this dream became a reality six years ago. This clearly wasn't a 'quick win.' It took work, but it was worthwhile.

Whether you believe it or not, you can attract anything in your life that you give attention to because like attracts like. Positive affirmations are a powerful tool that can make the opposite happen. By believing in a thought or sentence and repeating it to yourself regularly, you have the power to attract more positivity to your life.

Your words are mighty, and when done correctly, positive affirmations can be an impactful tool that will help you find the power to accomplish things that you didn't think were possible. However, they only work if you believe them. Here's how to create positive affirmations that you can believe in and achieve all your life's greatest desires.

Identify What You Want

To start writing a positive affirmation for your life, you must think about what you really want. Think about what would make your life happier and write those thoughts down. The essential part of creating positive affirmations is ensuring you are completely clear about what you want without worrying about the when or the how.

In my case, I imagined myself as living sustainably, surrounded by both beauty and wildlife.

List the Attributes You’ll Need

The next step is determining the attributes you'll need to achieve your goal when you've identified what you want. You should list between four and six things. You attributes are the things you need to be, rather than what you need to do. Once you've written these out, circle a few that you believe are the most essential attributes you will need to embody to reach your goal.

Using my example, here are the attributes that I listed:

  1. Small acreage

  2. Vineyard

  3. Food that is easy to grow and nutritious at the same time

  4. Wildlife that I could see outside my window

  5. Natural beauty living in harmony

  6. Affordable and easily manageable

Write Your Affirmation

Once your desires and attributes are written down, it's time to create your affirmation. You want to create a statement between one and two sentences that states the goal and attributes in a positive and empowering way. This can be challenging, so you should write down some ideas and repeat them out loud as they come to you.

"I live on a hobby farm with a vineyard, orchard, olive grove, and veggie patch that I share with the native wildlife. Using permaculture methods, the property practically takes care of itself as we live in harmony."

Practice Your New Affirmation

Now that you’ve created an affirmation, it’s time to practice it and repeat it often. You want to be sure to repeat your affirmations every day. To help you remember to say your statements, you set a reminder on your phone, you can select your phone's background to a picture of your affirmation so you see it every time you use your phone, or you can put them on Post-Its and place them around your home or office. Do whatever works for you.

If you ask my friends and family, they will tell you that I shared my dreams and desires with them. Although I was hoping to have this beautiful property in Southern California, we found our dream home in South Australia. You see, I didn't specify location in my affirmation, but was still able to create our dreams.

Affirmations are incredibly helpful in helping you achieve your desires as long as you do them correctly. You have the power to use your mind to create the future you desire.
